CSI (Crime Scene Investigation, "Investigación de la Escena del Crimen"), es una serie de ficción estadounidense que se centra en torno a un grupo de científicos forenses que trabaja en la ciudad norteamericana de Las Vegas (Nevada) investigando los crímenes que en ella suceden.
La original fórmula de la serie y su éxito suscitó dos secuelas, CSI: Miami y CSI: New York, en torno a los equipos de científicos forenses de dichas ciudades, pero además influye en varias series posteriores relacionadas con la investigación criminal, como Bones o NCIS entre otras.
La serie mezcla argumentos de novela y cine negro con la investigación científica necesaria para encontrar pruebas que iluminen crímenes oscuros, además de sumar historias de interés ético entre los investigadores y las víctimas. La serie encuentra su atractivo en esa alternancia entre género negro, ciencia pura e historia dramática, pero se aprovecha también de unas excelentes interpretaciones, unos guiones de gran calidad y profundidad y de una dirección poco rutinaria. La historia de los personajes va desarrollándose lentamente a lo largo de los episodios, contradiciendo la narración fulminante y centrada en la acción de la tradición cinematográfica norteamericana, y la vida privada del grupo de policías y científicos implicados se ve salpicada con ocasionales toques costumbristas y humorísticos.
